RANGELY, Colo. (December 18, 2021) – The Colorado Northwestern Community College Women's Basketball team suffered a tough defeat in a Scenic West Athletic Conference road game on Saturday.
CNCC lost a game in overtime to rival USU Eastern, falling 98-88 after a spirited competition in regulation. With the loss, the Lady Spartans are now 6-8 overall and 1-5 in Scenic West play.
Colorado Northwestern started the game strong, taking a 49-44 halftime lead and holding a 67-61 lead entering the final period. However, USU Eastern outscored CNCC in the fourth quarter, 21-15, and then outscored the Lady Spartans, 16-6, in overtime to earn the victory.
Ashana Hinds hit a pair of free throws late in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime, providing a moment of heroics for the Lady Spartans.
Rebecca Fraley led CNCC with 20 points, while
Aiesha Feagins notched 19 points.
Courtnie West scored 18 points, while
Ashana Hinds finished with 12 points.
Colorado Northwestern will now take a break until Dec. 30, when they will travel to Arizona for a tournament.
