RANGELY, Colo. (November 25, 2019) - The Colorado Northwestern Community College men's basketball team lost in a non-conference border clash on Monday.
CNCC fell 95-85 to Central Wyoming College in a spirited matchup, opening a four-game week with a close loss. The defeat drops CNCC's overall record to 1-8.
Central Wyoming jumped out to an impressive halftime lead, powering to a 56-43 advantage. Colorado Northwestern shot 50 percent in the first half, making 15-of-30 shots while 61.5 percent in the second half. It was Central Wyoming's dominance at the three-point range (10-of-18) and free-throw line (14-of-18).
Javonte Wyllie had a team-high 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including a 6-of-9 performance at the free-throw line.
Azarien Stephens scored 16 points, while
Shawn Kelly finished with 12 points.
Colorado Northwestern will play in a three-game tournament over the weekend in Casper, Wyo. The tourney will start on Thanksgiving with a game against host Casper College, with a Friday game against Dakota College at Bottineau.Â
