RANGELY, Colo. (November 12, 2019) - A week into the season, the Colorado Northwestern Community College men's basketball team is still searching for momentum.
The Spartans fell in a non-conference game on Tuesday at Hefley Gym, losing to Lamar Community College by a margin of 78-71. The loss drops CNCC to 0-4.
CNCC held a narrow 36-35 lead at halftime, going back-and-forth with Lamar and holding LCC to just 27.3 percent shooting from three-point range (3-of-11). The Spartans led by as many as 11 points midway through the first-half.  Lamar's defense clamped down in the second-half as Colorado Northwestern shot just 37.5 percent from the floor (12-of-32). LCC also finished with a 14-5 advantage in second-chance points.Â
The Spartans were led in scoring by
Dre'Quez Harvey, who finished with 18 points and made 3-of-6 three-point attempts. Javonte Wyllie had 14 points while
Matthew Hamilton scored 12 points.
Azarien Stephens finished with 11 points.
Colorado Northwestern will travel for a three-game tournament in Wyoming this weekend, starting Thursday with a game against Gillette College.Â
