RANGELY, Colo. (November 12, 2019) - The Colorado Northwestern Community College women's basketball team suffered a narrow defeat in a non-conference game Tuesday.
Facing off against Lamar Community College, the Lady Spartans fell in a narrow 77-76 loss, falling in the final seconds. The loss drops CNCC's overall record to 0-6.
Lamar took an early lead and held it throughout the game, stretching the lead to 67-58 going into the fourth quarter. Trailing 72-63 with 6:46 left in the period, the Lady Spartans started a comeback that went all the way to within a point, 74-73, with 3:39 left to play. Lamar was able to pull away late due to free throws, hitting the game-clinching shot with seconds remaining.
CNCC shot 46 percent from the field but made 0-of-7 three-point attempts in the game. The Lady Spartans forced 26 turnovers and scored 27 points off those turnovers.
Dani Russo finished with a team-high 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting, with
Alyssa Civitak scoring 16 points.
Colorado Northwestern will play in a multi-day tournament in Colorado over the weekend.
