Spartan Women's Basketball battled the Pronghorns of Gillette College in a closely contested game on Thursday Nov. 16, 2017 at the Pronghorn Center in Gillette, WY.
Colorado Northwestern and Gillette College entered the 2nd period tied and 17 points each. The 2nd quarter played out much the same with the Pronghorns taking a 6 point lead into the halftime break.
Sophomore Alyssa Nielsen (Duchesne, UT/Duchesne) led the scoring with 10 and Freshman Analiza Elizondo (San Antonio, TX/Jefferson) chipped in 9. The 3rd quarter saw the Pronghorns pull ahead and post a 22 point lead at the 8:31 mark of the 4th quarter. The Spartans mounted a furious comeback sparked by their pressure defense which resulted in 23 Pronghorn turnovers on the night. With less than a minute to play Colorado Northwestern closed the lead to 4 points. Gillette held on for the 75-69 victory. Leading the Spartan attack were Soph. Alyssa Nielsen with 24 pts and Freshman Analiza Elizondo scoring 19. Freshman Nakeva Mack(Tucson, AZ/Cienega) and Freshman Emily Booco(Keensburg, CO/Weld Central) lead rebounding with 7 each.
